Holland Hume
Born in San Francisco, California, Holland was bombarded with counterculture since birth. The son of a lead singer in a hair band, his “family” consisted of visions straight out of Spinal Tap. His childhood education consisted of Bruce Lee, James Dean, Elvis Presley (thanks, mom), Buddy Holly, and of course Dumbo. As he grew older, he learned of the finer things in life: B-movies, Bill Hicks, The B-52′s, and lots of other things that don’t start with the letter “B”. He’s lived in both Japan and America for extended periods of time and has visited more than a handful of others. The three things he holds closest to his heart are adventure, creative expression, and of course his beautiful wife. Reared from a family of artists, his enthusiasm for art in all of its many forms, as well as his family’s immeasurable support and encouragement in this area, has made him the man that he is today.
Holland finally turned his lifelong passion into a career when he formed his LLC Dead Idol Design and Productions in 2009. In that short time, he has already had prominent clients in both America and Japan, including Ed Hume, Geeks Who Drink, Hip and Naughty.com, Cyber Asset.com, Moneybox.jp, and The Tacoma Weekly Volcano.
Ayuri Hume
Ayuri was born and raised Nakatsu, Japan. A gentle soul, she takes sincere pleasure in nature and the beauty of the world. Her talents lie in teaching as well as translation, and her dream is to become a nursery school teacher for Japanese students living abroad.
Ayuri is the backbone of Dead Idol Design and Productions LLC. Other than translating the website mirror, she manages communications with our Japanese clients, organizes business models, controls the new business influx, and carries the burdensome role of being Holland’s constant muse.
